It’s been 2008 with us for eleven hours now and it’s been a good year so far!! We had such fun last night! We went to Salt for dinner with 23 friends (another post-wedding celebration – we’ve done well out of the whole wedding thing!!!) and then went to the Octagon in the centre of Dunedin for the fireworks and a band playing a rather excellent Prince compilation (reminded us of savoury bit’s contribution at our wedding!) The fireworks were good and it was fun to start the new year with friends! And now, January 1st is a BEAUTIFUL day. The view from where i’m typing is lovely and my husband and I have no plans as yet (although he is upstairs making me peppermint tea as I type!) It’s all good! Oh, and we met a friend of ours last night who got married on the same day as us. It was so fun to thinkt hat they are at the same stage as us – you know still loving the novelty of being married and walking round with grins on!!
patchwork quilt
December 30, 2007At our wedding celebration part two as well as having us a mahoosive cake for us the kind people of MBC have also made us a patchwork quilt (or are in the process of making!) This is an awesome present!! Each person (or family) have taken a sqaure of material and sown something on it for me and J. These are then all going to be assembled together to make our quilt. Such a lot of thought and time and effort has been put in and we LOVE IT!!! Thank you!!
wedding celebration part two
December 30, 2007Thank you thank you thank you to the spectacularly wonderful people of Musselburgh Baptist Church. We felt so humbled by the love you showed us yesterday!! It was just lovely to be back worshipping with you and to be at Brighton beach and have delicious food and to have you pray for us and catch up with everyone. So special!!
Oh and J is on the mend!!
facial
December 29, 2007I’ve just realised I didn’t blog about my facial yesterday. It was an unbelievable experience and I was in some other land for the rest of the day. Now, when I say facial I mean: back massage, neck massage, hand massage, double facial cleansing, face mask, face massage, face balm and an amazing moisturiser that I can still feel working. An hour and a bit later (and after a couple of moments of sleep!) I walked, nay floated out of the spa. BLISS. Jonathan doesn’t want to know how much it cost. I say what price can you put on a happy wife on honeymoon? As Mastercard say – priceless!! Maybe I’ll have another one in a couple of years time…
in sickness…
December 29, 2007My husband is sick. Not seriously… more like man-flu (whatever that is!) He looks ill and feels ill and isn’t really sleeping. This all wasn’t helped by the fact that for the last two nights we’ve been staying in a youth hostel. Anyway, we’re back in Dunedin, he’s tucked up in bed with tea, tim tams and a Spaced DVD and a loving compassionate wife who is still finding the novelty of being married appealing and so is willing to run about to get him whatever he wants!! He’s not in any way taking advantage though… but he could. I’ve just been out to buy him more paracetemol. It was so lovely to drive round Dunedin again and go back to my old supermarket. It all just feels so familiar and nice!!

December 28, 2007sleep talking
December 28, 2007Those of you who know me may know of my sleep exertions – walking, talking, moving furniture, laughing, changing clothes… I haven’t been too bad since getting married – just the odd comment! Last night, however, I dreamt that I’d lost my ring (I remember the dream – it was a little traumatic!) Anyway, seemingly I called out for Jonathan to help me and said ‘where have you gone?’ From his bunkbed across the room he reassured me that he was still there and told me I was sleeping. My reply (allegedly) was ‘that’s a good point.’ Poor J didn’t get to sleep until around 6am. He claims it’s because he felt ill. I know it’s because he was missing me beside him!!
wedding video explanation
December 28, 2007Oh I actually almost cried when I was watching these you tube wedding clips. SO SO SO good!! Thanks dad and Lewis. Hopefully more to come…
Wanaka
December 28, 2007You know sometimes you go somewhere and you’ve built it up so much in your mind that the reality is actually disappointing? Well that is ABSOLUTELY NOT the case with Wanaka. I have been longing to get back here for the last 17 months since we left NZ and it is as good as I remember. The weather is delightful – probably mid-twenties, blue skies a nice wee breeze. We’ve been siting on the shores of Lake Wanaka reading, drinking iced chocolate and taking photos. It surely doesn’t get much better than this?! The weird non-honeymoon thing is that we’re staying in a dorm with three other randoms (and Dougie!) in bunkbeds – very glamorous!! Off now for lunch… LOVE IT!!![]()
